    Week 20: Right Mindfulness

Life Update, Morality | No Comments

Mindfulness is a whole-body-and-mind awareness of the present moment. Instead of focusing on daydreams, anticipations, indulgences, or worry you focus on one particular thing at a time. It's slightly difficult in this day and age to try to be focused on just one thing at a time, considering how much mass media we are exposed to on a daily basis. This only makes the need to separate ourselves from the events of the real world all the more necessary. Meditation: I pursued a variety...

    Changing the World

    Thoughts | With 1 Comment

The people that go down in the history books are the ones that had the most profound effect upon the world in which we live. Even if I attempt to duplicate their efforts, I know the chances are rather slim for me to change the world in the same significant manner. I can only hope to carry out a livelihood where I can have the most impact on the most amount of people as possible (with my limited abilities of course)....

    UCSD vs. CSUF

    Versus | With 1 Comment

Having spent adequate time at both educational institutions, I think it's about time to compare the merits and disadvantages of each. This is based on my experiences primarily and does not largely reflect the views of everyone I have come into contact with over the years.   1. Student Population CSUF has 32,328 undergraduates and 5,349 postgraduates. UCSD has 22,676 undergraduates and 6,376 postgraduates. It's hard to definitively say whether having a bigger or smaller campus population is better or not. On the bright side, there is less competition for...

    Week 19: Right Effort

Life Update, Morality | No Comments

To say I've been trying as hard the past few weeks on project morality would be sadly a lie. I need to put more effort into these matters if I wish to become a better person. Whereas I tried extremely hard the first 13 weeks, the last 6 haven't nearly been what I thought it was. Maybe it's because of the vagueness of the eight-fold path, but I am roughly 2 weeks away from completing it. If I could I'd try to...

Testimonials

  • "Everything you've ever done, every person you've ever met, every experience you've ever had is a part of who you are today. Everything needed to be as it was, otherwise you wouldn't have grown into you." - Karen Salmansohn

    Instant Happy,
  • Our lives are all dynamic. We are never meant to stay the same. At the same time, I’d like to think instead of changing, we’re truly evolving into who we were destined to become in the long run.

    Changes Are A’ Coming, 2012,
  • As long as I retain all the values I’ve gained over the past and the present, the future should be a great one. The value of education. The value of hard work. The power of love. And to always strive for a better future, to take up a cause you believe in, will ultimately make you a happier person in the end.

The Past. The Present. The Future., 2011,
  • Though most of the “risks” I have taken have resulted in failure, I can safety say that in taking them, I have personally grown as an individual, and know what I have to work on in improve myself for next year. Next year I count on taking more risks which will result in less failures. No matter how devastating it could potentially turn out, I have to be willing to face potential failures if I want an ultimate success.
