Day 64: Paralleled Day

March 5th, 2011

Today was much like yesterday, almost an exact parallel, except still kind of different. The day started off differently as I watched 3 episodes of American Idol, did some homework, and ate at CV with Amul. After watching him play video games for a few minutes, Geetha came over and we played a bit of Rock Band and watched a ton of trashy TV (Jersey Shore). We would eat dinner with Lauren & Matt later that night at Tofu House, where I would snap a picture. We also went to "Morning Glory", which I deemed way too asian for my standards at least. Tofu House was delicious, except we had to wait outside for at least half an hour, and the food I ordered was unfortunately too spicy for my taste buds (Maybe I should trust Lauren next time). We also saw Bonnie Yip and talked to her for a bit.

In parallel to yesterday we all went to Foosh immediately after, although it was terrible compared to yesterday’s game. We saw Alex & Tyler there also! UC Santa Barbara was relatively okay, but UCSD Foosh was just not that good tonight, because all their best players went yesterday. They did okay, but did not satisfy my comedy cravings enough for me to want to stay and watch them strip. Me & Geetha would go to my place, watch a little bit of 24, change our facebook statuses, and figure out what to do with our sad, pathetic lives. Lauren and Matt came back from FOOSH demanding to watch a movie, so we all watched a movie, just like last night – this time it being "Drag me to Hell", which got amazing ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, but didn’t live up to the hype. It was good, kind of, but also kind of tad bit weird (still better than Zoolander in my book). After it was over, we would all call it a night.

Miley Cyrus pokes fun at herself and fellow headline-making celebs during the opening monologue of Saturday Night Live’s March 5 episode. Addressing her previous controversies, the 18-year-old entertainer sent a clear message to her critics: she’s not perfect! "There’s a photo of me being kissed by some dude and [photographer] Annie Leibovitz trying to get me nude. For those of you who think that’s very crude, I’m sorry that I’m not perfect," she sang. "I never stole a necklace or got a DUI. Never cheated on my wife like that golfer guy. So what you can see a little boob from the side? I’m sorry I’m not perfect," she said in another verse. YEAH, GO MILEY… DEFEND YOUR HONOR!

On March 5th, 1946, Winston Churchill delivers one of the first speeches condemning what he thought was a soviet Union bent on the expansion of communism in Europe and around the world, during the speech he coined the phrase "The Iron Curtain" which was then used by many future politicians. And thus the Cold War would come, pitting the two superpowers of the world against one another: The United States & the Soviet Union. Capitalism vs. Communism. We all know who ends up winning :)

P.S.: In Tents
