Today, I came upon a startling realization, that we are essentially all Sims living in a world of routine and repetition. As I played The Sims Social on Facebook (as I have done over the past few months), every single thing I did in the game reminded me of events in real life: including the need to fill my hunger crave, my bathroom cravings, my bedroom cravings (sleeping), and the ability for fun (in the form of television). What the game essentially leaves out is the going to school part, but the establishment of my Tuesday Day routine is pretty much set in stone at this point. I went to campus in the morning early for Vietnamese, where the professor gave us a quiz on material that I didn’t even study for… In fact, the quiz directly contradicted the syllabus on what it said she would test us on. Subsequently afterwards I changed the class from letter grade to pass/fail. I got some delicious Tofu Lunch with Geetha at Tapioca Express (their mixed vegetables). It wasn’t all that great, thus making the best vegetarian meal I’ve had by far still Tofu House. When lunch was over, I went to work to scan some binders for my boss, printed out some notes and hand delivered them to Geetha at Geisel, before she left me for class. It was there that I played the Sims Social, before meeting up with Alexis at Price Center to talk for a bit. We went to Yogurt World to get some wonderful ice cream before going back to Geisel where we watched on headphones an episode of Mad Men. Needless to say, it was both slow, and terrible. I went over to Alexis’s place to mooch on her ice cream before she dropped me back home at my place. At home, I ate some fettucino alfredo (without the chicken sadly), before awaiting the Asian F episode of Glee. Amy, Michelle, Jessica, Henry, & Sheng came over, and we watched one of the best episodes of the series. I hate Mercedes. Mike Chang is awesome! And the ending song literally gave me chills…. When they went home, the night was over, and I continued my routine, just as my Sims character does every single day (when I play it).

History

The Soviet Union inaugurates the "Space Age" with its launch of Sputnik, the world’s first artificial satellite. The spacecraft, named Sputnik after the Russian word for "satellite," was launched at 10:29 p.m. Moscow time from the Tyuratam launch base in the Kazakh Republic. Sputnik had a diameter of 22 inches and weighed 184 pounds and circled Earth once every hour and 36 minutes. Traveling at 18,000 miles an hour, its elliptical orbit had an apogee (farthest point from Earth) of 584 miles and a perigee (nearest point) of 143 miles. Visible with binoculars before sunrise or after sunset, Sputnik transmitted radio signals back to Earth strong enough to be picked up by amateur radio operators. Those in the United States with access to such equipment tuned in and listened in awe as the beeping Soviet spacecraft passed over America several times a day. In January 1958, Sputnik’s orbit deteriorated, as expected, and the spacecraft burned up in the atmosphere. AHH, the Soviet Union….

News

Presidential hopeful Ron Paul has called into question the killing of radical Al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. Writing in the New York Daily News, the outspoken Republican contender said the President Obama was acting outside ‘the Constitution or the rule of law’ when he ordered Friday’s drone strike on the American born terrorist leader. According to the constitution, American-born Awlaki should have been charged with a crime and arrested for a trial. YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!! Executive meeting with Ron Paul Club Thursday ;D
