I have sympathies for both protesting groups, and I, unlike many people, consider both groups not to be necessarily in conflict with one another.
While the Occupy Wall Street movement is merely protesting that corporations have too much power, the Tea Party is protesting the fact that the government has too much power. What both sides fail to finally realize is that it’s because of government that corporations have the amount of power that they do. When large corporations lobby for the government to have more power, in return the government enacts laws and regulations favorable to these companies. In a sense, if we had smaller government, and less regulations, corporations would not be in as much power as they do. By restricting competition, the government has played directly into the hands of the corporate interests lobbying them. The true institution both sides should be protesting is the root of the problem – the Federal Reserve, which in inflating our money supply is simply commit an act of counterfeiting – allowing for the funds necessary for the welfare-warfare state constantly propagated by the government.
Subsequently, as long as people understand the anger of both groups of protesters, and don’t look at it from a left-right paradigm, we’d all be better off. I personally would like the groups to merge, and for a true REVOLUTION to begin.
What do you think?
