Having lived off campus now for nearly 7 months, it’s time to create an estimation in my head of which grocery store I prefer.
1 – Distance
Von’s is closer to my place. Ralph’s is within busing distance. Von’s wins.

Ralphs: 0
2- Lighting/Aesthetics
In my opinion, Ralph’s has always looked better, and brighter. Von’s is pretty cheap and sad with their lighting, it being depressed and saddening all the time.

3- Pricing
This is pretty much a toss up. Some would say Von’s, some would say Ralph’s….. I would say I rarely ever buy groceries.

4 – Variety
Ralph’s clearly is a bigger, and subsequently superior store with more variety in rewards to their goods and services. Plus, their self-check out works better than Von’s.

I actually like Von’s setup and dim lighting. You should go to a Safeway which is basically Von’s but no where near SoCal and much much cheaper!
