The End of Glee.

The title of my blog point is a bit melodramatic considering the show has been renewed for a fourth season (and likely many more to come). Nevertheless, the symbolic ending of a glee legacy has come with the graduation of the show’s main cast, and subsequently my last ever “glee party” at UCSD.

Ever since the first days I ever watched the show’s pilot with John Torres, Howard Nguyen, Michelle Kyong, and Tiffany Wong I have become emotionally attached to all the characters. And though the show has largely declined in quality following the second season, there has still been several moments that remain dear to my heart (i.e. Asian F, Nationals, Graduation, etc.). It’s actually quite interesting to see how far I’ve grown in terms of the relationships I now have in contrast to the ones I started out with. I watched the show’s “Graduation” with none of the same people I watched the Pilot with – instead indulging in pure Glee with Adam, Henry, Vaibhav, Louise, Michelle, & Amy. Regardless of who I watch the show with, there’s a certain magic that’s built around watching the same show around every week. It forms a deep sense of camaraderie that might resemble going to the same restaurant together, or building upon other traditions that make one’s relationships grow. With this comes a rough estimate of how many times I’ve watched the show live with every single person (Granted, pre-2010 figures are a bit fuzzy, but are the best to my memory):

And if you don’t actually believe me, here’s the spreadsheet data itself.

By the way, here are my rankings of the Seasons: Season 1 > Season 3 > Season 2.
And here’s my rankings of the characters.

1. Rachel Berry
2. Emma Pillsberry
3. Mike Chang
4. Noah Puckerman
5. Shannon Beiste
6. Sue Sylvester
7. Quinn Fabray
8. Will Schuester
9. Blaine Anderson
10. Tina Cohen Chang
11. Sugar Motta
12. Santana Lopez
13. Finn Hudson
14. Kurt Hummel
14. Artie Abrams
15. Brittany Pears
16. Sam Evans
—————————-
20. Mercedes Jones

In the end though, with the ending of Glee, comes the ending of my Glee Parties – and a subsequent symbolic ending to one of my favorite college traditions. Alas, the time to grow is NOW, as graduation is approaching in roughly 4 weeks. It’s almost time to say Goodbye.

Ahh the end of glee parties. They were fun while they lasted. I remember going to my first glee party on campus. They were all fun. Great way to share some time watching with friends. It’s crazy how things have changed, just like things changed in the show.
